Gabby Louther, UCSD Student-Athlete

Gabby Louther, a junior at UC San Diego and a standout guard for the NCAA Division I Women’s Basketball team, has plenty to celebrate. The Tritons have made history, claiming the 2025 Big West Conference Championship and securing their first-ever spot in the NCAA Tournament. This marks a monumental achievement—not just for the women’s team, but for UCSD as a whole, as both the men’s and women’s teams have punched their tickets to March Madness in their first year of eligibility.

With the tournament ahead, Gabby and her team are preparing to face Southern University in Los Angeles. As a dedicated athlete and wellness advocate, she has shared insights into her routine, mindset, and what it takes to perform at the highest level.

What is the most important part of your daily routine?

The most important part of my daily routine is making sure I am getting at least 8 hours of sleep!

What’s your biggest wellness challenge? How do you address it?

My biggest wellness challenge is drinking enough water. I address this by always having my water bottle filled and in my sight. Drinking other liquids that have extra nutrients as well!

If you could give one piece of health advice to your kid(s), future kid(s) or relative(s), what would it be and why?

I would tell them to stay active and get plenty of sleep! That doing any activity will make you feel good and sleep will help both physically and mentally.
