Phelipe Rodrigues is a Paralympic swimmer born in Recife, Brazil. He was born with clubfoot and had two surgeries at just four weeks old. As a result, he began swimming at just 8 months old as physiotherapy and hasn’t stopped swimming since!  He has won over 10 different medals while participating in Paralympic sports.

What gets you out of bed every morning?

Every morning I wake up thinking that I want to do better today than I did yesterday.

What is the most important part of your daily routine?

The most important part is the consistency.

What about your “O” (or day plan) do you think is unique or special?

It makes me want more everyday and want a better quality of life.

Whose “O” (or day plan) would you most love to see?

I would love to see a Michael Phelps day plan!

What is your #1 wellness habit?

Sleep and hydration.

What is the best piece of health advice you’ve ever received?

Keep yourself hydrated always and get as much rest as possible for the next challenge.

What is your favorite part of living a healthy lifestyle?

It makes me feel great, lean, light and also clean!

Describe your sleep ritual. What time do you go to bed?

I normally go to bed at around 10:30pm but sometimes I get myself overtired and can’t really sleep straight away. Even so, I still go to bed and try to relax, listening to some chill songs.

What’s your biggest wellness challenge? How do you address it?

My biggest wellness challenge was changing my food habits at the beginning.

If you could give one piece of health advice to your kid(s), future kid(s) or relative(s), what would it be and why?

Keep your body active! Do sports and have fun!

Tell us about a time you were stuck in an unhealthy cycle and how you got out of it. What was the main inspiration for positive change?

I didn’t like veggies or salads before and I used to eat a lot of burgers and pizza, but I got myself in a situation where I needed to improve my performance and I had to change the junk food for healthy food. Now, I can’t live without it.

Phelipe Rodrigues is a multi-medalist for Paralympic sports. He won two silver and two bronze medals in the Rio 2016 Paralympic games.
