Day in the Life:
Mikaela Marie Horvath,
Senior Community Developer at Owaves
Hi! My name is Mikaela Horvath. I graduated from SDSU over two years ago with a Bachelor of Arts in Rhetoric and Writing Studies. I am enthusiastic about combining the written word with effective visuals to tell a compelling story! Also, I teach ballet and contemporary dance to kids, and occasionally sub tap and jazz classes as well. I love helping kids grow in their dance skills and seeing them become more confident in themselves! It’s wonderful to see their growth over the months and years. In addition to loving writing and dancing, I love cats and have two of my own: Jennings, a 10-year-old black and white cat, and Koko, a 1-year-old Snowshoe mix. I love how cats enjoy the simple pleasures of life, like finding a patch of sun to sleep in or savoring a tasty meal. I believe in the power of having an attitude of gratitude in life. A new practice I’ve tried to implement every night recently (as a result of quarantine) is writing down at least 10 things I’m grateful for from my day right before I go to sleep.

What is your favorite part of the app
I love how the different wellness activities you can incorporate into your day (e.g., sleep, relaxation, exercise, nutrition, work, etc.) are all color-coded and that you can use any kind of emoji you want to represent them. I also love how you can rename activities so that they have more specific names (e.g., “Dance” instead of “Move”).
What is the biggest challenges Owaves helped you overcome?
Prioritizing my most important tasks each day and getting those accomplished.
Who would you most like to sync with on Owaves?
Carrie Underwood
