“Canada’s Fastest Woman” and 2016 Olympic Sprinter Khamica Bingham is a 2-time World Championship finalist and Pan Am bronze medalist who holds multiple records, including for the Canadian 4x100m Relay. She made her Olympic debut at Rio 2016, where anchoring Canada’s 4x100m relay team.

Considering her record on the track, it may be surprising to know that unlike most track and field athletes, Khamica began her athletic career as a gymnast. She competed at a national level, but eventually decided she loved running and joined the track team in pursuit of her Olympic dreams.

Khamica’s hard work and dedication have helped her find success in national and international competitions. Here’s a look at her daily routine and how she keeps improving as an athlete:

  • 8AM Breakfast
  • 9-11AM Class
  • 11-3PM Training
  • 3-4PM Weight Lifting
  • 6PM Dinner
  • 8PM- Free time/ Homework/Shower
  • 10 or 11PM – Sleep

What gets you out of bed every morning?

Knowing that I haven’t fully accomplished all my goals that is in my heart and knowing I’m still blessed to do what I love to do. Everything will soon come to an end, so work hard and do it now so I have no regrets later!

What is the most important part of your daily routine?

Making sure I get a good breakfast and take my vitamins and supplements to keep my body health.

What is the best piece of health advice you’ve ever received?

HYDRATE!

What is your favorite part about living a healthy lifestyle?

Seeing your hard work pay off, and how great my body looks and feels!

Describe your sleep ritual. What time do you go to bed? Do you do anything special to prepare?

I like to read a book, pray or read my bible and take notes. Falling asleep to motivation or inspiration is the greatest.

What’s your biggest wellness challenge? How do you address it?

I don’t really like a lot of vegetables, so I have to find different techniques or ways to make it so that I am getting all my nutrients.
