What is your #1 wellness habit?

Gratefulness and thankfulness.

What is the best piece of health advice you’ve ever received?

Practice intermittent fasting.

What is your favorite part of living a healthy lifestyle?

The fact that I can influence others in a positive way and inspire them to make positive changes and better lifestyle choices.

Describe your sleep ritual. What time do you go to bed? Do you do anything special to prepare?

I’m normally in bed by 11:30 to midnight. I will usually avoid eating at least a couple of hours prior to sleeping and always run through a mental checklist of all the things and people I’m thankful for prior to closing my eyes.

What’s your biggest wellness challenge? How do you address it?

After going through some very difficult life circumstances that included simultaneously having to deal with the intense rigors of chiropractic school while balancing an unhealthy relationship, financial troubles, and living on my own away from home for the first time, I developed extremely high stress levels and anxiety that led to weight gain, hypertension, and depression. I was able to break the cycle by focusing on the things I had direct control over such as my diet, exercise, and mental habits. I started to eat a salad a day and began weight training until my body physically transformed over the course of a few months. Through the process of pushing myself daily in the gym, I was able to develop the mental fortitude and strength to better combat my personal demons. Once I saw that such a physical transformation was possible with my body, I realized my mind could go through a similar transformation for the better. The main inspiration for change came from wanting to be a positive role model to my loved ones in the hopes of inspiring them to better their own health and their own lives.

If you could give one piece of health advice to your future kids, what would it be and why?

Be kind, don’t eat sugar, exercise every day, and always tell those who matter to you that you love them.
