Day in the Life:
Like all other students whom we have featured in this campaign, as a result of the global pandemic, international student Vivian Teng had to unexpectedly return home from college. She left Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, where she was attending Carnegie Mellon University, to return to her hometown of Taipei, Taiwan. Once she arrived home, she was required to go through a two week self-quarantine in case she had contracted the virus. Her home country Taiwan has been able to maintain a low COVID-19 infection rate, allowing people to live relatively normal daily lives.

- 9:30AM – Go to the gym
- 10:00AM – Treadmill for an hour
- 11:30AM – Lunch
- 1:00PM – Nap

Returning to (Almost) Normalcy
Due to effective intervention measures, Taiwan has been able to maintain an extremely low COVID-19 infection rate and operate relatively normally, without lockdowns. The proactive measures that Taiwan took allowed people to get back to a close-to-normal daily routine in a few weeks. Although Vivian’s current daily routine is still not back to normal, as her classes are online and she FaceTimes her friends from the United States instead of seeing them in person, she is not under a stay-at-home order. Vivian’s favorite way to get outside while still being conscious of the COVID-19 situation is to go on walks along the beach.
With the infection rate in Taiwan being low, Vivian is able to live a relatively normal life. Hopefully this can be a call-to-action to all you readers in the US who are waiting for life to return to normal. We will get there!
