What’s your favorite vegetable?
All of them.
What’s your motto?
One must have the courage to lose sight of the shore in order to discover new oceans. Today is the day, not tomorrow, not next week.

Surfing, mountaineering, skiing, cycling, rock climbing, yoga

What gets you out of bed every morning?
The promise of adventure and that a healthy body can permit one to go on adventures gets me out of bed each morning. Knowing that there is still so much in the world to see and share with people, friends, and family is one of my most motivating forces. Having a healthy body is what our culture has taken for granted, so I find that my mission to promote a healthy body is becoming a stronger force in my day to day. Icing on the cake is when my adventures become an inspiration for others to treat their minds and bodies with respect and for them to try something they’ve always wanted to try or to do something they’ve feared doing. Its a perpetuating cycle of inspiration and motivation amongst my community!
What is the most important part of your daily routine?
Breakfast and my morning CARs. I wondered what I was doing wrong when I found myself having bilateral knee surgeries, so I did some research and found FRC. Functional Range Conditioning taught me to treat my body, like I treat my mind and my relationships, with respect. CARs are Controlled Articular Rotations that I do every morning to lubricate my joints before I start abusing them by either standing at my standing desk for 8 – 12 hours per day or hiking a mountain for 12 hours, I need to treat my range of motion like it is the most valuable thing I have in my life. It has been given to me and I need to maintain it to reduce my risk of injury – too much has been lost in my ignorance leading up to my knee surgeries. Now I also teach FRC to help others prevent injury too. And breakfast is just the best meal of the day!
What about your “O” (or day plan) do you think is unique or special?
I think my “O” is unique in the way that I focus my day around how much adventuring I can fit into my day. Ultimately, I don’t find it to be that unique since my daily plan is pretty much achieved by the same routine that people who have fitness goals in mind use. For example, work finances my adventures, food nourishes the vessel (my body) that takes me on these adventures, and sleep allows me to recover.
What is your favorite part about living a healthy lifestyle?
My favorite part about living a healthy lifestyle is my happiness and being able to share the benefits of a healthy lifestyle with friends and clients. The inspiration other people get from realizing that they can be healthier and happier by finding that awareness within themselves is something that I find to be priceless.
Describe your sleep ritual. What time do you go to bed? Do you do anything special to prepare?
If I don’t get a good amount of exercise during the day, I struggle to sleep. When I struggle to sleep, I have to turn off my brain and then I can usually fall asleep. To do that I either count by multiplying by 2 till as many numbers a I can remember: 2, 4, 8, 16, 32, 64, 128, 256, 512, 1024, 2048, etc. or I just meditate. Other things I do is make sure I drink some water before bed and that I have water by my bed so that I have water first thing in the morning.
If you could give one piece of health advice to your future kids, what would it be and why?
Move. One piece of advice I have for everyone is to move. Our bodies were made to move, and if we don’t move we find ourselves in pain and wondering why we get injured. Crawl, do summersaults, move all your joints every day in every direction, and move around!!!
