Day in the Life:
Meet Elaine Fang, a community developer at Owaves! Elaine recently graduated from the University of California, San Diego with a Psychology BSc and business minor and will be pursuing a Social and Organizational Psychology Masters at the London School of Economics in September. As a mental health advocate, Elaine is big on developing healthy habits that boost and maintain mental wellbeing. She likes to incorporate exercise into her daily routine by doing something active every day such as running, dancing, or doing pilates. She also encourages people to practice self-care in their routines as it reduces stress and anxiety and improves overall mental wellbeing. During her free time, she loves to play the piano and read popular science books!

Elaine Fang’s daily routine:
- 9:00AM – Wake up/Drink black coffee
- 9:30AM – Work
- 12:00PM – Lunch
- 1:00PM – Reading
- 3:00PM – Take online classes via Coursera (currently learning Python and Mandarin)
- 4:00PM – Break time (take a walk in the park)
- 5:00 PM – Work out (HIIT workouts or running)
- 6:30PM – Shower
- 7:00PM – Dinner
- 8:00PM – FaceTime friends and family
- 10:00PM – Watch YouTube or Netflix
- 11:00PM – Sleep
Keeping in Contact with Family and Friends
With social distancing in place, Elaine makes sure to set aside time each day to call her friends and family who are currently in Thailand and Taiwan. Social support systems are incredibly important especially during this COVID era in which our normal routines have been disrupted. While Elaine’s family is on the other side of the world, she is grateful for the technology that allows her to check in on and keep in contact with her loved ones.
