Royan is the founder and CEO of this awesome healthy lifestyle app you’re using, Owaves. He is a physician, entrepreneur, athlete, and health enthusiast based in San Diego, California. During his medical training, Royan realized how vital it is for physicians to adopt the healthy lifestyle habits they espouse to their patients.
It is through his passion for health and wellness that he was led to create the world’s first day planner for health. Ever since his fast-paced internal medicine internship in New York City in 2007, Royan has dedicated himself to researching the best lifestyle practices for optimal prevention of chronic disease.
Royan has presented at TEDxUCSD and has been quoted by Forbes, Reuters, FOX News, Xconomy, U-T San Diego, and the San Diego Business Journal. Royan completed an internal medicine internship at New York Medical College, earned his M.D. at Baylor College of Medicine, MBA at the Rady School of Management, UC San Diego, and BA and BS in Biochemistry and Business Administration at UC Berkeley and the Haas School of Business.
He serves on the formative Board of Directors for UC San Diego’s Center for Mindfulness and is an active member of the American College of Lifestyle Medicine. For balance, Royan enjoys running, biking and swimming and has competed in two Olympic-distance triathlons and a few half marathons. Royan also enjoys yoga, meditation, soccer, surfing, and painting.

One of the biggest lessons I took away from my medical intern year in New York is the importance of a healthy circadian rhythm. Sleep is important, and it’s best to get 7-9 hours a night. If you find yourself parked in front of a TV or Phone screen in the wee hours of the night or you feel groggy and not your best in the mornings, then this program is the right one for you.
